A Wellness Sanctuary in Bloom - Stellenbosch Visio, Spring 2024

Posted on Fri August 30, 2024 in Press.

Le Grand Jardin is exactly what its name translates to – a beautiful garden. Against the backdrop of lush Stellenbosch vineyards, the Sir Herbert Baker-style manor house overlooks Le Grand Jardin’s garden in full bloom, unveiling a scattering of beautiful spaces to discover this spring.

PRESERVING LE GRAND JARDIN’S unique heritage and enchanting features, owners Sue and Bernard Fontannaz strive for the villa to be a shared space among friends and family. Here, guests can experience a luxury stay with a wonderland-like atmosphere, where no one is too old to play and discover.

Visiting Le Grand Jardin during spring means experiencing grandeur around every corner. Greeting guests through the villa’s windows, the garden’s 500 rose and lavender bushes surround the property and are accompanied by stand-out spaces such as the Floral Chapel and the Looking Glass House.

Elegance meets nature at the Floral Chapel. As you enter through the chapel’s stained-glass doors, the natural light filters through the glass walls to unveil a breathtakingly tranquil space. Looking over the dam ornamented with water lilies, the chapel is the ideal sanctuary for intimate events, wedding ceremonies, christenings and exclusive yoga sessions.

The Looking Glass House is a Victorian-style glasshouse built to honour the garden’s natural elements surrounding it. The magical space is structured around 100-year-old oak trees, with one tree growing and standing tall inside the venue. The glass roof and walls allow sunbeams to travel through the space and highlight the fresh florals coming into bloom. The Looking Glass House, complete with a fireplace and artworks, is available for bespoke celebrations such as weddings, milestone birthdays and family reunions.
